Farm History
Our family farm began in mid-to-late 1800s, when our ancestors settled in the Wittenburg community of Alexander County. The Farmers’ Daughter is part of a larger, 108-acre family farm, which has been in the Icenhour family (Amy’s family) for 6 generations, since 1875. Most of the family farm is used for pasture land; with some being used for vegetable and strawberry production. Amy’s parents, Vinson and Mary Ann Icenhour, of Morning Dew Farms, began their life together as high school sweethearts. They farm mixed vegetables and row crops commercially, in addition to raising beef cattle. Vinson passed away, due to a farm accident in 2017. They farmed side by side for 41 years. Mary Ann, Amy, and her brothers Ray and Ben have continued to run Morning Dew Farms, Inc., even adding 5-acres of blueberries to their production list in 2020.
